Can you help trouble shoot Sharper Image Internet Weather Station EC-WS115?

I got this as a gift. It came without a software disk. After emailing customer support I got a link to the the following software:

I downloaded this software.  It brings up the software images on my screen ... I can enter my home location in the software ... but the software never connects to the internet ... so I star all over again.  The installation and troubleshooting guide for this software can be found at:

This gadget is supposedly compatible with Windows 7.  I am running Windows 7 Pro on my HP Computer.

    The recent outage appears to be over.  The server is back online and I am receiving weather data.  According so some of the other companies that use the same service for their products, the issue was due to hardware failure on the server that hosts the service.

    It has also improved. It is clear that there was no problem with the device. The bug was at your service provider.

    I think this is Sharper Image's way of washing their hands of this.  The manufacturer very well may be out of business but I'm quite certain this is not a manufacturing defect.  The unit itself still functions normally.  There is just no data getting to it.

    Ideas?  

    I think Foreca has changed the IP address. Therefore, the program can not download the data. There is need for a new program with the new IP address. Previously, there was such a problem. Then they released a new program. Unfortunately, the IP address can not be overwritten at home.

    This has happen before and was attributed to service outages with the data provider (FORECA). The updates resumed once the service came back up however, considering the age of the devices and their connection with the former Sharper Image it would be safe to assume they are no longer being updated. This could be further exacerbated if FORECA changed their API or the original API authorizations/tokens for the devices expired and there is no one there to update the software or reissue the authorizations. I would give it a few days/weeks before sending 'em to the landfill.
