I appreciate your time.

As you mentioned that Windows is slow, I would suggest you to run this Microsoft fixit and check if it helps.

Please also run Microsoft safety scanner to check for any virus or malware which may be causing the issue.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

    Hello, i'm having a similiar problem.

    I installed an update to the GFWL client, but it resulted in none of my GFWL games working after that. After searching suppor on 10 different forums and 10 different companies, i decided to do a simple systemrestore. 

    i found a systemrestore point a couple of hours before i installed the GFWL virus, i select it and restore begin.

    But after the reboot is complete, a error message appears:

    (translating to english, may not be 100% correct )

    "System restoration could not be done. Computer files and programs has NOT been changed. Information: A unknown error occured during systemrestore. (0xc0000022) "

    And thats all. Nothing more, restore failed. Tried a couple of times without any succes.

    I had the same problem with System Restore.

    Error message was:  "System Restore" did not complete successfully.  Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.

    "Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0xc0000022)."

    I was doing a restore to try to recover a deleted Excel file.

    Hi jaxduffer,

    Let’s try these steps & check if it helps.

    Method 1

    If you have any security softwares installed, disable them temporarily & check if the issue persists.

    Note:  Ensure to enable your anti-virus back on the computer after you finish these steps. Refer: Disable antivirus software

    Method 2

    You may also run System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files. Then check if the issue persists.

    a. i. Type cmd in start search box.

       ii. Right click on cmd in the Program list and then select the option Run as administrator.

       iii. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

    b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow
