I appreciate your time.

As you mentioned that Windows is slow, I would suggest you to run this Microsoft fixit and check if it helps.

Please also run Microsoft safety scanner to check for any virus or malware which may be causing the issue.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

    Hello, i'm having a similiar problem.

    I installed an update to the GFWL client, but it resulted in none of my GFWL games working after that. After searching suppor on 10 different forums and 10 different companies, i decided to do a simple systemrestore. 

    i found a systemrestore point a couple of hours before i installed the GFWL virus, i select it and restore begin.

    But after the reboot is complete, a error message appears:

    (translating to english, may not be 100% correct )

    "System restoration could not be done. Computer files and programs has NOT been changed. Information: A unknown error occured during systemrestore. (0xc0000022) "

    And thats all. Nothing more, restore failed. Tried a couple of times without any succes.

    As usual, Microsoft tech support is absolutely useless.

    They can correctly identify the potential causes, but are absolutely useless when it comes to the actual fixing.

    Here are intelligent steps to fix the issue:

    Restart your computer, repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as your computer starts.

    You arrive at: Advanced Boot Options.

    To rule out your antivirus or security solution as being the culprit, start in "Safe Mode with command prompt".

    You arrive at: Command prompt.

    Type: rstrui.exe

    System Restore launches.

    Perform restore, if its successful it will say so before restarting, and once it's started.

    If it was not successful, it's not your security solution's fault.

    Now it makes sense to see if system files are hard drive sectors are damaged.

    From any command prompt type: sfc /scannow

    Let this complete, should say everything is good.

    Lets check for damaged sectors, type  from any command prompt: chkdsk c: /r

    Where c: in the example is the drive the windows files are on.

    If you recently installed updates, uninstall all those updates.

    In the search bar type: Windows Memory Diagnostic

    That should complete without errors.

    (not needed, but if you your whole system is F*****, download and run prime 95 for 2 hours)

    If you do this last, and it completes without errors, your CPU is reliable.

    Now get back into safemode with command prompt, and run system restore again.

    The problem should be solved.

    If it isn't I or another guru at Microsoft would require direct access to your system to fix the problem; in other words, you're scr*****.  You could always consult google.

    One thing is for sure, if you did all of the above, there is nothing wrong with your hardware.

    And Microsoft is to blame.

    Chances of the above working: 90%
