Force Feedback on Xbox 360 Racing Wheel using Wireless Gaming Reciever in Windows 7

I am trying to use my Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel in Windows 7 using the Wireless Gaming Receiver to connect it to my PC.

It connects fine and I can use the wheel in games, but I'm not getting any force feedback and I don't see it mentioned in the device configuration in the control panel.

This page: http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/ specifies that the wheel should have drivers available for Windows Vista in the future (I am guessing this page is well out of date) with force feedback but I can't find mention of these drivers anywhere.

Technically, this is a Windows 7 Driver Support question on when then Wireless Gaming Receiver drivers will be updated to provide force feedback support as was promised in the URL the previous poster provided.

I to would be interested in if this work is progressing.  If it has been cancelled you may wish to notify marketing and get them to update the page in question.

Cheers.

I'd love to see force feedback implemented on the Racing Wheel but there is another thing that would be even more awesome I think: in the support page it clearly says the Wheel supports not only left and right movement but also forward/backwards and tilt.

"When you use your speed wheel with driving games, it acts like a steering wheel and ignores unwanted motion. The speed wheel supports pitch, yaw, and roll, but not all games supports these actions. Refer to the game’s manual to find out what actions are supported by the game."

In Windows i was only able to get the steering movement working, if only there was a way to unlock the other axes you could use it also for flight/space sim and other games!

    Hi All,

Drivers for this are managed through the Xbox developer kit team.  I was the input driver PM on that team in the mid 2000s and back then made the conscious decision to not focus on PC FFB support for a number of reasons.  Things have changed within MS since then however I wouldn't hold out for anything new on the driver front given the age of this particular piece of hardware.  There is a strong ecosystem of support for race wheels so I would recommend looking there for a solution.

I'm still with MS however no longer work within Xbox.  Even still, im in the same boat as everyone else and do not have FFB functionality in Windows.

    Cheers

My issue was always that I had an xbox 360, and the wireless wheel but wasn't going to buy the wireless dongle unless I could be sure that the wheel fully worked with Windows.

This is still the case so I can't try anything out (no dongle...).  Does anything in this post help you guys?  :

Puff3r sounds like he has the same wheel and goes from not working early in the post to working well, allegedly with force feedback?  (wonder if he's describing rumble as FF though?).

I'm more mildly interested than desperate for an answer these days but keep on posting, it's a good diversion now and again!!!

Yep it's a definitely a bit of a let down.  Shame they didn't stand by their claim a dedicated PC driver was on the way.  I'm surprised some enterprising programmer hasn't cobbled together a driver.

I have it working without FF on Project Cars and it works quite well but would have liked that extra level of immersion, it would certainly make the faster cars easier to drive.
