Back up the registry**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry**

  1. Go to start and type regedit.exe.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
  3. You'll see an entry on the right called InitialKeyboardIndicators. The "usual" default value is 0. Double click on this entry and change the value to 2.
  4. Close registry editor.

Restart the computer. The issue should be fixed by now.

    This has also been causing me issues for over a year....and I've finally found a fix. I've been developing in Access since v. 1.0 in the early 90's...so I had a lot of legacy code that was translated to new versions as they became available. I was still using the 'A_NORMAL' and 'A_PREVIEW' (and other) command line switches and they compiled in Access 2010 without error. While trying (yet again) to solve the numlock problem, I updated the command line switches throughout my code to the current acNormal, acPreview (and others) and the numlock issue was gone.

    I had also experienced issues with the sendkeys functions (in particular sendkeys "PGUP") and when I had eliminated the use of those, it had solved some of my numlock problems, but not all. Once I updated the command line switches, this solved them all.

    So I checked my registry, and it already had a 2 in the value box. However, my numlock is still turning itself off. It's usually after the computer has been sleeping or hibernating. It's getting REALLY annoying to press the keypad and it shoot off somewhere else on my screen then have to have me fix whatever mess I created afterwards.  Just for the record, I have 64 Bit Windows 7 Home Premium software.

    I am having this problem. In our office we have two PCs, both running Windows XP Pro SP3 (sorry) one with a PS/2 keyboard and no problem, one with a USB keyboard and yes problem. Registry entry is already 2.
