b. Do you remember making any recent changes to your computer?

Back up the registry**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry**

  1. Go to start and type regedit.exe.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
  3. You'll see an entry on the right called InitialKeyboardIndicators. The "usual" default value is 0. Double click on this entry and change the value to 2.
  4. Close registry editor.

Restart the computer. The issue should be fixed by now.

    Same for me except that when my numlock turns off it flashes the caps lock, scroll lock and num lock at the same time and then numlock and other lights go out.  I have to press the num lock key twice to turn it back on.  Sometimes whoever does this might immediately turn it back off so I play thier silly game by trying to turn it back on as quickly as I can.  Sometimes they respond by turning it off again almost as quickly.  They usually won't play this too many iterations but they wait for me to be unaware that it happened.  It usually causes multiple repeat characters if I happen to be using the keyboard (at the time the 3 keys lights go on simultaneously).  Also as a side note, they also must be sending a signal to try and play with my UPS as I get the Belkin UPS disconnected alert, followed eventually by communication established, but not at the same time as the lights flash.

    Happening here too. Brand new HP laptop w/ Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2010 Home and Business. Connected to HP docking station and using Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse. Num lock turns off every time I open a new spreadsheet. Registry setting are fine for num lock.

    Could really use a solution to this as it really affects productivity, not to mention my stress level.

    As an update, I now believe the issue is chiefly related to "SendKeys" macros as events in Microsoft Access fires them. I am trying to come up with programming alternatives to SendKeys which is so intuitive and usefull to novices like me, but apparantly is regarded by many as "unreiable", which implies random variability which I find hard to square with determinstic computers, but what do I know? Not much or I wouldn't be on this forum.
