my num lock keeps shutting itself off by itself can i stop this

I switched the scroll lock and num lock keys around on my keyboard, and that fixed it for me.

I too have the same issue, i will be working on something (usually in Word) or typing a password and all of the sudden it shut off. IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!  I have done the registry thing and all that does it turn it on on the start up. Did ANYONE come up with a fix for this? ....... sigh

Like eagrves and omakier2, my office is experiencing the same thing. All computers with windows 7 and MS Access and, by the way MS wireless keyboards, are experiencing numlock changes from on to off when tabbing from an MS Access text box to a number field. Many exits and entries trigger macro's, so macros may have something to do with this. This has been going on since around the first of October. It is very irratating. It probably is related to an "update". Many of your updates cause problems, to the point where we are starting to view them with trepidation and not as unmitagated good things.

Back up the registry**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry**

a.    Go to start and type regedit.exe.

b.    Navigate to HKEY_USERS.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.

c.    You'll see an entry on the right called InitialKeyboardIndicators. The "usual" default value is 0. Double click on this entry and change the value to 2.

Note: As you do not have this, you will need to create a key manually. Right click on “Keyboard”-> click New-> Key-> Name it as InitialKeyboardIndicators. Double-click onInitialKeyboardIndicators andset its value data to 2.

d.    Close registry editor.

Restart the computer. The issue should be fixed by now.
