[SOLVED] Windows 7 64 bit crashes constantly with games - APPCRASH - Fault Module Name: d3d9.dll

Greetings,

I had Vista 64 and now upgraded to Windows 7 64bit.  80% of my games crash on load.

As other I have googled the shiznit out of this, it seems most people crash some time into a game, I crash without the thing loading at all.

My setup.

Processor Information:

Qx9770 (I run clocked and not clocked, all modes crash)

Asus Striker II Extreme motherboard

Windows Version:

    Windows 7 (64 bit)

Video Card:

    Driver:  NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+

    DirectX Driver Name:  nvd3dum.dll

    Driver Version:  8.17.11.9562 (driver 195.62, I've also tried 196.xx)

    DirectX Driver Version:  8.17.11.9562

    DirectX Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+

    Number of Monitors:  2

    Number of Logical Video Cards:  2 (SLI and NO SLI, still crash)

    Primary Display Resolution:  1920 x 1200

    Desktop Resolution: 3200 x 1200

Sound card:

    Audio device: Speakers (SoundMAX Integrated D

Memory:

    RAM:  4094 Mb

These games run off Steam mainly but also games not in steam crash.

Fallout 3

Halfllife 2

Ghostbusters

JadeEmpire

MassEffect

Mirror's Edge  various others.

Surprisingly Crysis works, Company of heroes also.

A typical crash brings up this window.

Hello Ericsz,

There are several issues that can cause this and other problems that lead to the Appcrash error. There is another post that has several steps to troubleshoot the issue, try those steps and see if they help.

    Having DX 10 or DX 11 is irrelevant to the needs of games running DX 9 components. If you are still having issues with any *d3d9* files, the best idea would be to run the DX setup that came with the install of the game. This would either be off the disk or in the case of Steam in the common game files. By default it would like like this,

    32 Bit - %install drive%:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common%game name%

    64 Bit - %install drive%:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common%game name%

    Under which would be a directory for DX. You will have to manualy navigate to the directory and run it, manualy that is. The install will be in that directory and have any and all files that are needed to run the game. This should fix any issue you are having, well in regards to DX that is.

    You are responding to an five month old post, on a thread that was started on Feb 2010, and which had an answer in the first page (The OP said that he found a conflict with a Startup program).

    As you most likely have a different problem to the original thread (or the suggestions already offered would have worked for you) you should create a new thread.

    Indeed . When you post your new thread,  help the people on the forum by being specific about your problem.

    Give full details of what is, or is not, happening including error messages, your system specifications, what games you are have a problem with, and anything else you think may be relevant.

    EVEN I HAVETHE SAME PROBLEM PLAYNIN MAX PAYNE 3 AND BATMAN......ITS CRASHES USING DX11.......WAT SHOULD I DO PLZ HELP ..SAME D3D11.DLL  ISSUE
