XP will not restore active desktop

Hello rghaynes_710, welcome.

I would attempt to delete and recreate the active desktop. If that does not work, perhaps the content on the website itself is having technical problems.

You can also attempt to reset Internet Explorer back to defaults to see if that resolves the issue.

  1. Click START
  2. Click 'Control Panel'
  3. Double click 'Internet Options'
  4. Click on the 'Advanced' tab and select 'Reset...' at the very bottom of the Window
  5. Restart your computer

    Follow these instructions, u can solve ur prob:

    1.Go to Run, type regedit and hit enter

    2.Go here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components

    3.Select the value DeskHtmlVersion

    4.Select the Decimal radial button

    5.Change the value of 272 to 0

    6.Most of the time it might take a few seconds for your background to appear and other times…you might need to restart your computer.

    Ryan,

    I too have not found a solution to this question -, My active destop is  still not active. Please advise me asap in this matter. Om my screen it still says as Active desktop recovery - please clik the button and some option I have tried all. Please advise me asap. Its says An error has occured running this script - when I press ok nothing happens. Please advise

    Dear Ryan (or whomever):

    I followed these steps carefully, but to no avail: I still have no Active Desktop, and I have the warning in the background, and a button asking me to push it to restore my active desktop. When I push it, it gives me an Internet Explorer script error message, and nothing else happens.

    I would love to restore my desktop; any further ideas?
