Hello rghaynes_710, welcome.

I would attempt to delete and recreate the active desktop. If that does not work, perhaps the content on the website itself is having technical problems.

You can also attempt to reset Internet Explorer back to defaults to see if that resolves the issue.

  1. Click START
  2. Click 'Control Panel'
  3. Double click 'Internet Options'
  4. Click on the 'Advanced' tab and select 'Reset...' at the very bottom of the Window
  5. Restart your computer

Let us know what happens,

Thanks!

XP will not restore active desktop

just had same problem. Ryan T and NightHawk 02s' solutions didn't work on my XP. after messing about a bit found this simple solution.--- Go to Start/Search-all files and folders/ print 'Desktop'-look in Local hard drives [C,D,] and click Search. find 'Show Desktop' [near top of list on mine] and double click. worked for me, let me know how you get on.

    download Microsoft Fix it 50208

    or

    go to url:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929200#top

it helped me a lot and it was the most efficient method i ever found. please try it

It would take hardly 3 minutes or even less

i also tried the above mentioned solutions but none worked

but the solution i mentioned worked very well.hence i would strongly recommend you to go to the above url.

    Good luck!

Can chat with me on gmail.

    Everytime free!
