While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.
The details of my network controllers (there are two) are as follows.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

Hmmm ... yet the same hardware works well with Windows Vista, this would suggest that the problem has arisen as a result of changes in Windows 7 not from nVidia side ...
And if it is indeed "one of many known nVidia issues" then Microsoft should look into it, as nVidia is a not exactly a small hardware producer.
While that may be true, it is nVidia that is responsible for putting out compatible drivers and software for operating systems, not Microsoft's

Ok, a somewhat short sighted point of view from a busines perspective, because obviously I will not be able to recommend Windows 7 ...
However, the reason I posted on this site is not to hear about Microsfot's business acumen or lack thereof (obviously nVidia motherboard users are not going to be ripping out their motherboards to solve the issue) but will instead stay away from Windows 7), but whether anyone has been able to able to solve the problem and if so how?

It's important to consider that Windows 7 is still in a testing phase so there is bound to be issues. Many error reports have been uploaded to nVidia and Microsoft as well as other companies who's products are having issues in the new operating system environment. Most companies have chosen to forgo implementing new drivers for Windows 7 while it is in testing and chosen to concentrate on drivers that are compatible with the final version. You should consider that Windows 7 will not be RTM until July 11 which means that no manufactures of software or hardware have a final working version of Windows 7 yet. We have had a few issues reported to us on my website concerning nVidia products and the response is still the same. Try Vista drivers, if those fail, try XP drivers, if those fail then there's nothing that anyone can do until nVidia releases updates. Users of nVidia products that have been able to deploy Vista or XP drivers have reported some reduced functionality. I can certainly understand your frustration but consider that warnings were issued in the download instructions for Windows 7 and in the FAQs and release notes. I certainly hope that you are able to correct your issue but since Windows 7 is still pre-release, you won't find any help from Microsoft as it is their policy not to offer support with pre-release software.
