While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

For the record, I don't use any "easy transfer program" as the above poster mentioned. I've reformatted in case there was a conflict....not jiving still.

Hey.....guess what! It's almost January 2012 and the problem STILL exists.
I don't care whose problem it is. Since it's not being taken care of, this white girl is buying a MacBook Pro tomorrow. You truly get what you pay for and I am willing to invest to get rid of the many plagues of Windows (no matter whose problem it is). You just don't hear about this stuff as frequently on a Mac OS.
What finally solved my problem was reinstalling everything. My unexpert opinion is that using MicroSoft'ss easy transfer program (designed for transferring files to a new computer) imported settings that kept sabotaging my internet connection. The second time around, I manually transferred only files, no programs or settings, and (cross my fingers), the problem hasn't reoccurred.
I had ran in to this problem the other day.
It all started about a week ago. I don't have Nvidia card.
I played around and finally got it working.
Right click on My Computer and select Manage
Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane
Expand Network Adapters
Right click on your wireless network card and select Unistall
Make sure you tick Delete the driver software for this device.
Then reboot.
Plug in the Ethernet cable
Right click on My Computer and select Manage
Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane
You will see that a driver is not installed.
Update it from the internet and reboot.
