While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.
The details of my network controllers (there are two) are as follows.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

After scouring forums for solutions and trying the one above (which worked for a bit, then failed), I finally found one on the EVGA forums that worked for me.
What I wound up doing finally is uninstalling my updated Nvidia ethernet drivers, allowing Win7 to load the default drivers, and it's worked flawlessly since. I had out of habit started out with the latest version of the drivers when upgrading my machine, and apparently in my case, the 15.51 (Ethernet v73.14) Nvidia drivers were actually causing the issue.
I was able to re-enable the IPv6 as well.
I think I may have found the solution.
First make sure that you are using the latest driver from Nvidia. That is : NvidianForce 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet. Version 73.0.6.0
Next go to local Area connections
Select Properties
In Network Tab - Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/lPv6)
Highlight Internet Protocol Version4(TCP/lPv4) Click Properties
Go to General Tab
Select Use following DNS Server
Perferred DNS Server Address 4.2.2.2
Alternate DNS Server Address 4.2.2.1
Click "OK"

i still have the same problem with my nvidia nforce 680i sli built in ethernet on both vista 64-bit and on window 7 build 7100... ive tried multiple solutions including disabling the bonjour service. its getting very anoying having to reset the adapter every 20-30 minutes.
I doubt that there were NO drivers installed for the dual Nvidia network devices. Windows 7 would have installed it's defaults.
More than likely they got disabled somehow.
You need to go to Nvidia's website and download the new Nforce WINDOWS 7 .inf files (NOT vista) for your particular MB if it has an Nvidia chip.
But, that is probably not the solution to everyones problem here, anyway.

This is NOT a driver issue or a TCP/IP configuration issue...although it's a good idea to make sure you are using the latest chipset drivers from your manufacturer.Go to Control panel ... then administrative options.Then "services".Scroll down and find a service named "Bonjour service". double click on this service, then disable it. Now choose "automatic (delated start)".Click OK then close everything and reboot, when you do, your network and internet connection should be fine.Takes a lot to explain the problem but it is a service created by Apple that is commonly used in several applications to get your network card to configure itselfautomatically to work with certain services. It does not play well with windows services as a rule, and delaying the auto start gives the windows services time to start prior to its activation at reboot.Hope this helps!
