While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

DEFAULT GATEWAY ISSUE SOLVED? on the HP Pavillion QuadCore: I had ASSUMED that when we upgraded the 5 month old machine from Vista HomePREM to WIN 7 HomePREM that the Win7 install + post-install updates would cover everything. They did not cover several drivers including the ATI-Radeon (not an Nvidia issue) video + the Atheros wireless adapter/ethernet driver, Audio drivers and several others that were native to the machine. As I upgraded these drivers one by one the wireless connect became more and more stable. Running 2+ days now without signal loss to to default gateway issues. It was previously losing the signal every couple minutes during downloads and once every 30 minutes during regular web browsing activity (email, etc).
I have an Asus P5K.
