While Windows 7 works and looks good, there is one major issue which threatens to derail the entire experience for me.
Several times a day, the default gateway becomes unavailable, which means that the PC running Windows 7 loses internet connectivity. At the same time, other PCs, running Vista, are continuing to work normally. This includes one PC with a WiFi connection and another which is normally wired.
The details of my network controllers (there are two) are as follows.

The problem is solved by manually having to repair the problem when Windows 7 finds that the default gateway is not avaialble and resets network controller 2.
I have seen that this is not an isolated with several reports on the net, some suggesting that a different driver might help, but which one? Any suggestions?

It's one of many known nVidia issues with Windows 7 that nVidia must correct, unfortuniately Microsoft has nothing to do with it. I would sugguest that you contact nVidia for assistance.

I had ran in to this problem the other day.
It all started about a week ago. I don't have Nvidia card.
I played around and finally got it working.
Right click on My Computer and select Manage
Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane
Expand Network Adapters
Right click on your wireless network card and select Unistall
Make sure you tick Delete the driver software for this device.
Then reboot.
Plug in the Ethernet cable
Right click on My Computer and select Manage
Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane
You will see that a driver is not installed.
Update it from the internet and reboot.
Did you ever find out how to get the internet back after the gateway was not available. Mine just did it today and I dont know how to get my wireless internet back
Has anyone found a reliable solution to this?
I don't have a Nvidia grfx card and have only recently reinstalled McAfee to I don't think it's that.
Any other suggestions?

I have the 1030 card as well in an XPS laptop. This problem started with no warning. the laptop was flawless for about 6 months, then the internet just keeps dropping, as described herein.
I tried setting a default gateway, but the settings would not save (weird).
Still looking for a solution
