I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my system and all is well except for a yellow exclamation mark showing in Device Manager under "Network adapters" and against the item "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface"

Looking under the properties for this device shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I haven't got any idea on what this device is or does.

Could someone please advise on this problem.

Thanks.

Hi Siebert9,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forum!

First thing I would like to suggest you is to uninstall and reinstall the device from device manager and verify if the yellow exclamation mark disappears.

You can also try updating your network driver by following these steps:

  • Right click the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
  • Update Driver Software...
  • Browse my computer for driver software
  • Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  • Select from the list and update the driver.

Also you may get this mark because the network adapter may not be compatible with Windows 7. Request you to contact the manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver/adaptor that is compatible with Windows 7.

To check for compatibility in windows 7, visit the below mentioned link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Hope this helps resolve your issue!

Thanks & Regards,

Supreeth - Microsoft Support.

I did give up and moved to a Apple IMAC Computer and that works perfectly with no problems, like Windows 10 kept having, with no fixes, and by the way, "no" that didn't work to upgrade or go to newer drivers, the problem kept happening.

So, I happily moved to Apple computers for good now (big now working good smiles), Thanks everyone.

In Windows 7, 8, or even 10, find your way to the device manager.  On Windows 7, I hit the start menu, right click on computer, click on properties, and then you will see a device manager option on the upper right hand part of the screen.  Of course, if you are seeing a yellow exclamation point on your driver, you are already there anyway.

Once you have your device manager up, right click on the driver and a properties box will pop up.  Click on the properties box and another box will pop up.  Choose the details tab, then in the drop down property box, choose hardware Ids.

This will give you several "values", Next you can right click on the value  (usually the second value works better than the longer first value), copy and then paste that value into a search engine.  You will then receive several search options.  Read each one careful until you can identify the actual driver that you need.  Once you have identified the driver, go to the manufacturers website (Dell, HP, etc) and look up that driver.

    Remember two important things:

    1.  Never download a driver from a 3rd party site.  This is where nasty viruses are born.
    2. This works about 85% of the time and usually when it doesn't work it is a chipset driver that was installed in the wrong order that is causing the problem.

    Hope this helps.
