I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my system and all is well except for a yellow exclamation mark showing in Device Manager under "Network adapters" and against the item "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface"

Looking under the properties for this device shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I haven't got any idea on what this device is or does.

Could someone please advise on this problem.

Thanks.

Hi Siebert9,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forum!

First thing I would like to suggest you is to uninstall and reinstall the device from device manager and verify if the yellow exclamation mark disappears.

You can also try updating your network driver by following these steps:

  • Right click the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
  • Update Driver Software...
  • Browse my computer for driver software
  • Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  • Select from the list and update the driver.

Also you may get this mark because the network adapter may not be compatible with Windows 7. Request you to contact the manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver/adaptor that is compatible with Windows 7.

To check for compatibility in windows 7, visit the below mentioned link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Hope this helps resolve your issue!

Thanks & Regards,

Supreeth - Microsoft Support.

@ladysheila--MS tech support told me Teredo is an "inbuilt" driver. Did you try scanning for hardware changes? If not, perhaps you can use System Restore or Windows Backup to restore to a time to before you deleted Teredo.

That's what I did when I did that by mistake, and also how I know that the problem (at least on my system) wasn't ZoneAlarm, because I reverted back, to a time before ZA was even installed, ran Windows Update, and there was Teredo back, exclamation mark and all.

From what I've gathered from other threads and searching, whether Teredo will work depends on whether your ISP and/or router supports it, aside from whatever other factors there may be, like antivirus progs.

    The problem may be ZoneAlarm.

Some users have found that ZoneAlarm affects the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface as discussed in the following link:

    http://forums.zonealarm.com/showthread.php?p=269219&mode=linear#post269219

Also, from the System Information "Windows Error Reporting" you appear to have experienced Blue Screen Errors involving the netio.sys.

These Blue Screen Errors may also be being caused by ZoneAlarm as was the case in the following link:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/8aabb1a2-49d0-4bc2-92ca-dce7ddf5af73

I would suggest to uninstall ZoneAlarm and see if the problems resolve.

Here's the link to my SkyDrive public folder:

    http://cid-5d2abe75b66044c6.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public

Within you will find a file msinfo32.nfo which was created as per your instructions.

    Many thanks.

    Frank.

Hello. I uninstalled from the device manager as suggested, and can't figure out how to get the teredo tunneling adaptor back.

Where do I find it, and why can't I find it on line?  I was trying to uninstall and reinstall as you stated.  Thanks for your attention.
