-->  I've a 1MB Broadband connection . I used to connect 2 Computers with that  MODEM provided by the ISP

1 is my Desktop PC and the Other is Laptop

I used to connect my Desktop PC via LAN cable and Connect laptop wireless with the same MODEM/ROUTER

Please refer me to network technology that is practically useful  so that wheneven both (Desktop and Laptop) is using internet they cant see IP CONFLICT error also the topology should allow content sharing and other possibilities for a LEARNER

I had this problem in May 2012 for no apparent reason and haven't seen the error since, until 2 days ago. In the past, I used a broadband router for my home and 2 other computers shared the network. We have always used DHCP and I wasn't sure what to make of it then. Even though Windows 7 has the home network sharing thing, we do not use it.

However, I switched to a Verizon Mifi for my present internet access and the same 3 devices have been using this for internet access. We *always* use the 3 computers simultaneously and I've only had this problem recently- yesterday I WAS the only device connected and I still got this message. I cannot figure it out, everything is up to date and of course, Verizon technical assistance doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about. I even called my antivirus customer service and as knowledgable as she was, she kept insisting that someone else was connected! She even made the comment "go look around and make sure that no one has left their laptop on". Ridiculous, because EVEN IF they were connected, I SHOULD NOT be getting this error. Hmmmpf. Oh, and my kids were at school and husband was at work- no one had used the internet from around 5 pm the day before and the laptops go to sleep after 10 mins of no use. Sorry, I was just frustrated with my experience yesterday. Tonight, only my husband was online and I turned my laptop on about a half hour later. When I did, I got the message. My daughter was online when he logged on and he did not get the message.

I did follow the previous advice and it didn't apply to me. I wish there was a better answer, it honestly bugs me because I had been nailed with a man-in-the-middle attack and my machine (RIP dear friend) was being used as a ghost >_< in 2010.  I spent a lot of time and money in order to prevent another situation like that.
