"Windows has detected an IP address conflict"

This continues to pop up on my computer. I have changed internet services. How do I correct this problem. "It says thatanother computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact you network administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows System event log." I do not know what to do.

Hi Champions05,

Do you have Service pack installed for Windows Vista?

I would suggest you to use the below provided methods and check - **Method 1:**You can get a new IP address for your computer. You might need to do this if you are having connection problems.

a. Click Start. Type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. 

b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

ipconfig /all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

The ipconfig /all command displays Windows TCP/IP settings for all your network adapters.

c. ipconfig /release in the command prompt and press ENTER. This releases your current IP address.

d. ipconfig /renew in the command prompt and press ENTER.

The DHCP configuration for all adapters will be renewed. To renew the IP address for a

specific adapter, type the adapter name that appears when you type ipconfig at the command prompt.

Method 2: If the issue persists and you do not have Windows Vista Service Pack installedthen you may refer to the below link and check if using the hot fix assists you resolve the issue -

    I don't think I got a reply, so I can't say it helped.

    why do I get this message?  I don't have a network administrator.  I don't even know how to obtain details in the Windows System event log, and even when I try to find those details I can't understand them.  So why do you even bother?

    They are not on my network they are trying to hack me

    " I am just about finished with Windows Operating Systems"

    My last computer cost me over 3.000,00 to build to do Architecture in 3D etc. it also was attacked and it never was right and I get the same assinine answers back from you. Maybe its time to get a different OS.
