I can't use programs that require .NET Framework.

I'm trying to use a program that has previously worked flawlessly. This program is called GHTCP, which is used with Guitar Hero 3 PC. It requires .NET Framework 2.0 or higher to use. All of sudden, the program just stopped working. I asked to program creator about this, and he said that it sounds like a .NET Framework so here I am.

I'm running Windows Vista. I've tried uninstalling and then installing .NET Framework 3.0 but thats not working. I found that .NET Framework is part of the OS so I can't remove it. Is there any way aside from repairing/reinstalling Windows that I can fix this?

I did not read them all and I do not know if this will work, but go into your services and see if the .Net Framework 4 is on. I noticed that mine was not on (when I had a problem similar to yours) but after I started it, my .NET Framework 4 kept stopping in Windows 7. I hope this helps and good luck!", AND YOU REPLIED THAT IT STARTS AND STOPS, AND YOU'RE NOT SURE HOW TO CHANGE IT.

Well I had completely forgot about, and wonder if changing your "Window Features" might help you to fix 1 or more of the problems, or issues that you are having, or replied about from my suggest. Below is how to find and change them.

1. Open "Window Updates", then you can either click:

A.  "Installed Updates"(at the bottom, if it's listed on the left side under "Control Panel Home"), OR

B.  "View Update History" that's under the "Install Updates" Button. Then under the "Review your update history", at the end of the 2nd sentence, click the highlighted "Installed Updates".

2. On the left side of the "Uninstall an update" title, and under "Control Panel Home", Click the "Turn Window Features on or off".

3.  Below are the 3 Features I saw that you can Turn on by clicking, that has ".NET Framework":

A. There's a "Internet Information Services" folder, then to the "WWW Service", to "Application Development Features", to ".NET Extensibility", and

B.  Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 with 2 folders "W.C.F. HTTP"

C. Windows Process Activation Service, and under it is ".NET Framework"

NOTE:  I RECOMMEND THAT YOU GO TO THE 'MICROSOFT SUPPORT' WEBSITE, AND ALSO CHECK OUT THIS FORM AND THE 'MICROSOFT TECHNET FORUM', TO SEE WHAT'S THE PURPOSE FOR EACH FEATURE, WHAT IT'S USED FOR, AND IF IT WILL HELP TO ADD, OR TURN IT ON.

Ok while this answer is correct let me just add if you have .net framework 2.0 go into install and uninstall programs aera click on netgen 2.0 whatever it is called there and wait till the next screen comes up may take sometime..... now it should say [ Repair ] or [ Remove ] now click repair this will correct any corrupt files sometime it does not though and you need to download another and install that 2.0 version over again. Please start your OWN thread and detail your problem exactly - complete with full error messages received.

Without that sort of data we have no chance of troubleshooting your problem - and joining the tag-end of 1 18-month dead thread is not going to help either.

ok I have just tried installing the Encoder_en.exe and when I go to install it it wants to run the .net framework 4.0 but can not and without it and it not starting correctly it can not install so... back to square one and yes I have tried this scannow and don't say no you must not have we are not liars we are not doing this just to annoy its a real problem I need this to work for me to install this software and I need it soon I want it for use on my desktop for school and other related projects... So I go into services because I don't just like any old service running when ever the H it feels like it and now this one won't start up I mean its odd I had home Premium before now win7 Ultimate 64bit and it worked then and now with upgrading it seems not to and even before I could not get the thing to stop running lol now it won't even budge.... :S MS is really really odd

I've tried that before but it gives me an error saying the following:

"The Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.3019_X86 service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I'm not sure how to get around that one either.
