access point appear: unidentified network
internet appear bloqued
access: Local only
connection: wireless connection.
Please help check what is the reason "local only".
ip is assigned automatically by DHCP, but is not possible to connect to internet, the problem appear only on windows vista Pcs, in my other computer with XP version the connection is good.
I have Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

Check how your security is setup on your AP. I had to mess with mine a bit. For some reason, my windows 7 machines have been sensitive to it, especially on netgear AP's

I have followed the given link (article 928223) and it hasn't worked. I've tried everything else, system restore etc and it won't connect even with the ethernet cable. This is driving me crazy, everything was working fine for about 9 months and now it has stopped, I only can get Local Access. I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini Card in a Dell Inspiron 1525 running with Vista.

I have also tried (article 928223) and it hasn't helped...is anyone able to tell me if Windows 7 has the same problem? I am willing to upgrade but want to know if it fixes the problem before I spend the money
I have since used a Norton Remover tool to remove ALL traces of Norton Antivirus on my laptop, and the problem has been solved... not sure if it will work for anyone else but it's definitely worth a try.
I too have experienced the same symptoms as most on this post and have tried all solutions provided by Microsoft. I could not get more than local access using wireless or ethernet so I was leaning towards it not being just a wireless issue.
I also used the Norton Removal tool and have been able to connect thru wireless to a public hotel network (I haven't been able to connect to anything but a home network for months). I am assuming this coordinates with the timing of when my "free trial" of Norton ran out and I unistalled it.

I found posts dating back to April 2007 with the same issue indicating they had uninstalled security/anti-virus software other than Norton but found a removal tool from the software maker also cleared up the issue.
