Your best chance to recover your data is to try navigating to the C:\Users<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes directory, right click on StickyNotes.snt, and select Restore Previous Versions. This will pull the file from your latest restore
point, if available.
I've discovered if you close the Sticky Note by right-clicking it on the taskbar, it closes the Sticky Note application. However, next time you open Sticky Notes your data will return. The same also applies if you leave the Sticky Note up when rebooting
your computer.

Dear Barbara,
well l just had the same problem the user had with accidentally closing sticky notes, well my wife 'accidentally' closed them, I tried restoring as you suggested, that didnt work since there are no previous versions it says. initially l did try a system restore, that
didnt work either, so tried your suggestion. neither method worked, so thought it could be because of me initially doing the system restore, but experimented by opening another sticky note and clicking its x to close, and your StickyNotes.snt instructions.
no luck again :(
l checked the system protection for the hard drive, and it is On and 'working'
please help
thanks in advance
