Programs Crash, error: Fault module kernelbase.dll . Application crash

I have just tried a slight variation of your suggestion.

I set a password for, and enabled the "Administrator" account, then logged into it, and tried once again to run the program that was giving me the trouble (Boxer Text Editor, which has never given me any problems in the past).

The same problem occurred, even though the Administrator account was totally new.

I have not tried renaming any other profiles or folders yet.  I take it that you mean the folders containing the profiles should be renamed and new ones created, is that correct?

I don't think that this will qualify as an "Answer," but I did manage to solve the problem.

After trying unsuccessfully to solve the problem using most of the suggestions in this thread, I gave up and decided to try something else, and it worked.

However, this "solution" didn't involve following any of the suggestions in this thread.

My "solution" was:  Install Windows 8!

It updates kernelbase.dll to a new version, and my problem went away immediately.

I was always convinced that the problem lies with kernelbase.dll, and none of the "faulty" programs mentioned in this thread.

I don't know how useful this will be to any of the contributors to this thread, but it's my 2 cents' worth, anyway.

I have several programs that seems to be in some conflict with kernelbase.dll. They crash the moment I start them and kernelbase.dll is the fault module.

I've tried installing windows twice but the problem persist.

I've tried running in 'clean boot'.

I've tried 'Windows Resource Protection'

I've tried running the program in different compatability states.

Nothing helps. Any ideas?
