Windows 7 - Display 'A' Philips primary display - Display 'B' IBM secondary display.  A shows as Identity 2 and B shows as Identity 1.  I want to reverse these.  Reason is that the cursor currently travels from display B to A and I need it to go the other way - due to physical location of displays

In the Screen Resolution window, under Change the appearance of your displays , click and drag one of the monitors to its correct location vs. the other one.   The Identity numbers don't matter.

Try swapping the eizo and Sony TV when the TV is connected in the AMD Catalyst Control Panel -> Desktop Management -> Creating and Arrange Desktop, click on the black arrow on the main display and press swap?

I believe it stores different profile when you plug in different things, so you just have to set it correctly for each scenario.

    I have very similar problem!!

My graphic card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 DirectCU 1GB DDR5 PCI-E BOX V2

    I have 3 displays

    1. Eizo s1921 (basic display)      DVI -1
    2. Samsung 971p                       DVI-2
    3. Sony TV                                  HDMI

Firstly i connected Eizo display. Then i connected Samsung display.

And in this moment everything was fine:

    computer only - EIZO

Duplicate - duplicate eizo and samsung

Extend  - extended eizo and samsung

    Projector Only - samsung only.

When i connected TV to HDMI port my WINDOW +P configuration is:

    computer only - Sony TV

Duplicate - duplicate sony TV + eizo

Extend  - extended eizo and Sony TV display

Projector Only - eizo + samsung

I dont know how to make configuration like this:

    computer only - eizo

Duplicate - duplicate eizo + samsung

Extend  - extended eizo + samsung

Projector Only - sony TV only

i have latest AMD drivers 13.4. My system is Windows 7 home premium.

    Any ideas??

Thanks for help and sorry for my english!!

Steve, perhaps in this user's case the Identity number don't matter, but they do in my case.  My software requires VGA port to be assigned identity number 1 and HDMI port to be assigned identity number 2.  You answer, while perhaps correct and helpful for this user's issue, is not a correct answer for the actual question he/she asked.

Does anyone have a correct answer here?

Is it possible to change the video identity assignments in Windows 7 or 8?

In my case, when two displays are attached (one via VGA port and a second via HDMI) the HDMI connected devise will always be assigned to display 1 and the VGA connected devise will always revert to display 2.  My software requires the VGA (my PC monitor) be assigned to display 1 and the extended display be assigned to display 2.

I know how to drag and drop the display for panning from one display to the other; this will not help.  I know how to change the "Primary Display"; this will not help.

What I need is to change the assigned Display Numbers from 1 to 2, and 2 to 1 respectively...

So that the VGA will always be one display 1 and the HDMI will always be on display 2.

    Can this be done?

Thx. That worked like a charm! Not very intuitive in the actual settings but it worked. Thx again.

Tell you what, connect a projector or "secondary" external monitor and press Windows+P and see if that makes since...  Windows 7 is implying that the projector SHOULD be #2 but it assigns it as #1. so even the image windows gives you is wrong when using your main display.

ex.  (press Window+P and you get these options)

[ computer only | Duplicate | Extend  | (Projector Only*)

*this option SHOULD show the image on the projector only but since windows assigns your Projector as #1, the image is shown on your monitor.

      [ (Computer Only**) | Duplicate | Extend | Projector Only ]

**this option SHOULD show the image on the Monitor only but since windows assigns your Montor as #2, the image is shown through your projector.

My 8 year old nephew understood this was wrong, so i hope Microsoft can see it too.

p.s.  these posts are better than any "Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program"....  they're over a year old now... so how about a patch, a Hotfix or something.
