How to Swap Display Identity (Identities)

when connecting a tv to an hdmi port, windows and the bios sees this display as the primary hence displays the bios screen and sometimes login and boot screens on it and its annoying and should be defaulting to the vga or computer monitor. this is an OS problem because the opperating system will not let you change display 1 and 2, only the positions of them which doesn't help this issue. all the patches and updates MS puts out, why cant u shoot one out for this?

I too have the same problem and if it was second party software doing it, I could see why Microsoft may choose to ignore the problem, but Microsoft Power Point is the culprit in my case, I have set the PPS to play on primary display and my desktop monitor is my primary display but in monitor properties it is number 2 and my TV is numbered 1. So the Power Point Slide Show settting for primary display is actually not primary display but display number 1.  I am unable to play the PPS on my primary monitor. It appears that Windows 7 sees HDMI interface as monitor number 1 regardless if it is the primary display or not. I would think Microsoft would create a fix for this as it is their program along with their operating system, no passing the buck here.

I have an ATI HD5670.

This VideoCard have 3 output ports: DVI, HDMI, DP.

I use 2 monitors and a TV.

Actually I have that problem beacause the TV is always identified as number 2.

But.. I know it's possible to switch the sequence, beacause I ran the correct configuration, where the TV is recognized as n°3, for months.

Recently, apparently with no reason my main monitor swtched identity with the TV so I can't no longer see the BIOS screen on my primary monitor but only in the DP and HDMI ports.

This isnt the correct configuration, but what can I do?

If this is not related to windows7, is related to what? I presume to the BIOS, but there are not options correlated.

I did CLRCMOS and removed battery. noway.

I'm lost and a bit frustrated about this.

ATI FIX:

I was able to fix this problem in Catalyst Control Center v12.4

Running: ATI Radeon HD 6850

Desktop Management-->Creating and Arranging Desktops.

right click on any monitor and hit swap.

right click on any monitor and hit identify.

the numbers should have changed, if not hit swap again then identify.

once the numbers are correct, right click on the monitor you want as main,

select make primary.

move monitors around to your liking. Done.

Note: if i try adjusting any of these setting in the windows interface it reverts back to the settings i do not want.

Well, yes, this does work after swapping and identifying twice, but only in the realm of ATI's Catalyst Control Center.  The Windows interface assignment of monitor identity has not changed.  Note that CCC uses blue numbers to identify monitors, whereas Windows uses white numbers.

Additionally, another program I have, Actual Multiple Monitors, has a Monitors Layout and Settings tab that allows identification, but not swapping of identities.  It, too, shows the same identity assignments in white letters that the Windows interface provides.

I now have two programs identifying my monitors the undesired way (left--2, right--1) while the third identifies them as desired with 1 on the left and 2 on the right.

I'm sure many users who read and write from right to left would prefer this scheme, but not me.
