In the Screen Resolution window, under Change the appearance of your displays , click and drag one of the monitors to its correct location vs. the other one. The Identity numbers don't matter.

Windows 7 - Display 'A' Philips primary display - Display 'B' IBM secondary display. A shows as Identity 2 and B shows as Identity 1. I want to reverse these. Reason is that the cursor currently travels from display B to A and I need it to go the other way - due to physical location of displays

2014-08-29T05:43:37+00:00 I just bought a 4k monitor and Windows magically decided that it should be Monitor 1. Eventhough I desginated one of my other displays as the primary, I still get weird problems where the OS shifts some windows after inactivity to monitor ID 1. Display IDs do matter and it really **** that there is no way to change them!

2014-07-02T08:40:42+00:00 This is stunning. I only recently added a second display to my PC. It didn't take me long to encounter problems because of screwy display identity numbers. I came here expecting to find a practical solution. Not only do I find none, but apparently there's a refusal by anyone in a position to act to even acknowledge the problem. This is beyond disappointing.
The notion that "identity numbers don't matter" when Windows 7's own Win+P command absolutely relies upon them boggles my mind.

2014-06-16T21:18:13+00:00 Well I've read through every post in this thread and it looks like there is absolutely no solution. Four and a half years later there is still no solution. I'm impressed MS. I don't know if your programmers and technicians are too dumb to figure out a real solution or if you don't care what your customers have to say about the product you're selling to us. I would understand if Windows was free because then we couldn't really ask you for anything but its not. Don't get me wrong, Windows 7 is by far the best OS so far but its still got flaws that need to be fixed. People want to change the identity of their displays, show us how.
To the technician and everyone who tried to offer solutions, thanks for trying but please don't give answers if you don't understand the question.
