Turn NUM LOCK on at start-up

have just read how to get numbers lock to start at boot  but windows 7 does not have

run after clicking start.

after all the reading and searching, the old guys rule. I'm young at 62 and have been at this since punched cards and your solution was the only one that worked for me. Here's to grey hair, age and experience...trumps everything else out there. Many thanks and keep learning and teaching.

My Dell PC would start with NUM LOCK on until just before the PC got to the log on screen, when NUM LOCK went off--so very, very irritating.  Really, now.  AFter 6 or 7 bootups, I may have figured this out for XP users.  Possibly my fix might also apply to Vista or Win7 users.

Click Start>Run> enter "regedit" >click OK>

Now you see the Registry Editor, with two columns.  on the left under My Computer, you may see HKEY_CURRENT_USER

and

HKEY_USERS

I think to do this right, you need to do what I did.  If the little square to the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER contains a +, click on it, then click on the little + next to CONTROL PANEL then click on KEYBOARD.  On the right I saw InitialKeyboardIndicators, to the right of which I want to see a 2.  Mine already read 2.  so after several forays into regedit, I found the next folder under My Computer, HKEY_USERS

Again, I clicked on the little square to the left of HKEY_USERS,

but this time I clicked on the + next to DEFAULT,  then clicked on the little + next to CONTROL PANEL then I clicked on KEYBOARD.   On the right I saw InitialKeyboardIndicators, to the right of which I want to see a 2.  Mine read 0.  I right clicked on that line, clicked on "Modify" & changed the 0 to a 2.

I restarted my PC and voi---ola.  I had restored NUM LOCK .
