Hello,

I just entered a CD into my disc drive and noticed nothing was happening. So I went to manually click on the disc drive itself, and saw that it was completely gone. When going through the troubleshooting process in Windows 7, this note came up:

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32).

Obviously I need to re-enable this service, but I am clueless as to which one or how to do so. Any help would be appreciated!

Try the following MS KB article:

Try following the steps for Windows Vista which should also work for Windows 7.

    Installing the gearbox worked

    I tried both.

    If i can ever return the favor as an attorney, let me know.

    I have googled the problem for several days and even bought a replacement burner.

    Yours is the only solution that worked.

    The automatic Fixit identified the problem, but was unable to fixit. They need to update the Fixit tool to delete the upper and lower filters. As far as I can tell they are not needed for anything specific.

    Manually removing the LowerFilters entry completely and rebooting the machine worked for me.

    HEY!!! I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!! 1000000% WORKING

    FOLLOW ME..

    OPEN DEVICE MANAGER -> RIGHT-CLICK ON THE CORRUPT DEVICE (YELLOW MARK) ->

    UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE ->BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE ->LET ME PICK FROM A LIST OF DEVICE DRIVERS ON MY COMPUTER -> NEXT -> CLOSE
