Hello,

I just entered a CD into my disc drive and noticed nothing was happening. So I went to manually click on the disc drive itself, and saw that it was completely gone. When going through the troubleshooting process in Windows 7, this note came up:

A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32).

Obviously I need to re-enable this service, but I am clueless as to which one or how to do so. Any help would be appreciated!

Try the following MS KB article:

Try following the steps for Windows Vista which should also work for Windows 7.

    Hi Dave Binko,

    Can you check the following registry key?:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    At that registry key, in the right window, is there a Value name UpperFilters?

    Is so, what is the Data for UpperFilters?

    At that registry key, in the right window, is there a Value name LowerFilters?

    Is so, what is the Data for LowerFilters?

    LowerFilters value is PxHIpa64 and for UpperFilters the value I put in is GEARspiWDM

    I found this value in another answer on this forum - in my case the UpperFilters entry was completely missing, so I created one.

    System is working fine, and has been for some days now.
