Age of Empires 2 on Windows 7 has color issues

Hello, i want to run Age of Empires 2 on my Windows 7 rc computer. But there are color issuse when i run it, the grass aren't green and the water isent blue. How should i do to fix this? I have try to run it complatify with windows xp service pack 2, and installd some driexct 9 drivers. but not result to better colors. I hope someone have a good answer, because i love this game.

Go into task manager select the processes tab and end explorer.exe then alt-tab back into age of empires

Note: this will make your task bar disapear and any open folders

To restart explorer open the task manager agian in the aplications tab hit new task and type explorer in the box

The colours change because of the Aero theme's poor handling of colours

Edit:

You can also make a batch file with the following lines and place it in the same location as your age of empires 2 executable

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe

age2_x1.exe

Start explorer.exe

    Ending the explorer.exe process does not fix this issue with Windows 7 Ultimate.

    For those of us that do not know what you're talking about in "making a batch file", could you please expound on this process?

    The startup colours and graphics are just as they were in Windows 95 & Vista. However, when the "start" menu appears, all of the colours go to (I can't remember what kind of resolution problem it is called!).

    I have a problem that isn't fixed by this.

    For some reason, everything is messed up. Not just the grass and the water, but EVERYTHING. Including the main menu, and the buttons, and everything. It's kinda weird, like everything's inverted. Please help.

    i used the cmd

    taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe

    age2_x1.exe

    Start explorer.exe

    yeah, i saved it through notepad, save as age2.cmd or whatever. but i just did the same with other computer but it didn't work. explorer still restarted in the middle of the game and the color (of aoe) changed.

    so i changed the theme into windows classic theme and it fixed the problem. Hope it helps!
