Age of Empires 2 on Windows 7 has color issues

Hello, i want to run Age of Empires 2 on my Windows 7 rc computer. But there are color issuse when i run it, the grass aren't green and the water isent blue. How should i do to fix this? I have try to run it complatify with windows xp service pack 2, and installd some driexct 9 drivers. but not result to better colors. I hope someone have a good answer, because i love this game.

Go into task manager select the processes tab and end explorer.exe then alt-tab back into age of empires

Note: this will make your task bar disapear and any open folders

To restart explorer open the task manager agian in the aplications tab hit new task and type explorer in the box

The colours change because of the Aero theme's poor handling of colours

Edit:

You can also make a batch file with the following lines and place it in the same location as your age of empires 2 executable

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe

age2_x1.exe

Start explorer.exe

tried this and it wouldnt let me save it because it said im not the administrator wich is bs because i am ...any way saved it to desk top instead the just moved it to correct file should work the same i would think ,, god only knows whay it wouldn't let me do it ur way but task accomplished i just did it a little different . thnx for the info

This works. I've being trying to fix this problem since my son adores this version of the game. it took me less then 30 seconds and all is fixed. WOW! thank you very much.

This wasn't working for me until i moved to the AOE directory...

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II"

empires2.EXE

Start explorer.exe

Yaay! This worked! Looked extra suspicious at first, with the foreign website, random download, and spam like posting (no offense) but this is a way better solution than the kill explorer idea (I don't like closing explorer windows odd enough)

And since it stats out windowed mode, but plays in fullscreen, all that old 640*480 stuff looks alot nicer! Thanks so much!

Now I don't have to uninstall! (I'm a perfectionist lol)
