Hi,
Why Windows 7 is not providing the virtual desktops like in Mac or Linux ? It helps a lot in arranging the applications into various groups like personal, office etc and placing them on different desktops.

The download does not seem to be malware. I suggest you might scan the file with another Antivirus such as Microsoft Security Essentiasl and see if you come up with the same results.

I've developed an application because I wanted the same thing. My program is extremely lightweight and requires no configuring.
You install, or you can use the zip and just run it. Then use alt+ the number of the desktop to switch to it. Then alt+ctrl+number to send the active window to a desktop.
My program is open source and free.
The current desktop is shown in the tray on the icon, and the icon can optionally be hidden.

Works like a charm.
I worked with Desktops 2.0 for a few months and I was quite unhappy with the application. The program spews a whole new explorer process for each desktop which causes apps like Chrome and Outlook to work unexpectedly between desktops (Namely, Chrome will only open in one desktop and Outlook apps will only work on the Desktop that has Outlook opened). Not only those were problems that hampered my use of multiple desktops but also increased the RAM usage of my machine considerable.
I switched today to the mDesktop app (1.5 to avoid OpenCandy) and it is truly more lightweight and doesn't have any of the problems above. I'll report again if anything else comes up when using it.
