I cannot move my desktop shortcut icons around on my desktop. Think it has something to do with the auto-allign feature - how do I fix this ?

Can't move icons on desk top to new location
Did you try to turn off auto arrange icons right mouse on desktop - view - auto arrange check mark off

or start -run cmd --- sfc/ scannow type that in or copy and paste that is the system file checker and it will take maybe 20 minutes depending on how much you have on your hard drive. That will find files and put them back if they are damaged.
I am someone else now experiencing the same problem. I followed the advice given above, but only discovered that my Auto Arrange Icons setting was already NOT checked. Despite this, I can no longer drag anything on my desktop to a different location on the desktop. I hope someone else has a solution for me.
