What happened to the 'Up one folder' button in the Windows Explorer??

Excuse me,  I don' t agree with Grzegorz Krzymiński

"Up one level"  button should be an option for user to disable or enable.   Cannot say the button is not necessary.

Consider the folder name is a long and there are many sub folder,  clicking the address bar become difficult and inconvenience. 

Win 7 design is far less user friendly than XP.    And for the Windows designer :  they need to consider to offer an option for users to use the traditional classic / previous interface.

I guess this button is not necessary, since the functionality of Windows Explorer address bar was changed.

If you want to go up one folder just press on the appropriate part of the address bar. For example: If you are inside C:\Users\Default the address bar is displaying: Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Users > Default, so if you want to go UP, just press Users in the address bar.

that is a lame answer to a very valid concern about the lack of a helpful UP button. Every one here knows new design of addressbar with "breadcrum design  we do not need a lecture from you about that. what we and the OP want is a way to bring back UP button. It was very effective timesaver.

Even Windows agreed - and brought this UP button back in Windows 8 - so go figure

This is NOT an answer because it only works sometimes.  After you search and you want the DIRECTORY that the item is in, it's rediculous that you have to: Right-Click->Properties-> cut-and-paste location, when simply having an "Up One Level" button made it quick and painless!!!

Biggest issue i find with the up one being removed is if you, like every person i have ever worked with, have any mapped drives, you cannot navigate up past the root of the mapped location using the remodeled explorer window.  Say i have \SERVERX\shared_for_all_FULL_ACCESS\production mapped to "I:" if i am in that location or a sub folder of that location the highest i can go without typing out \SERVERX\shared_for_all_FULL_ACCESS it to the Production folder at the "I:" location and i have to create a secondary map drive to access the one up location vs being able to click one button.  Doesn't seem like much but in an environment like mine, where we have network programs that are required to have the run folder as the root of the network mapped drive letter i have to regularly un-map drives and re-map drives to run some applications because we have used up all 26 letters, and extra map locations are valuable property. 

As stated above, use a third party application to add the function back and get the desired result.

or you can use Alt+Up arrow which is the keyboard shortcut for jumping upwards in a directory.  but the mapped location no longer works with the Alt+up-arrow method it just takes you back to computer rather than the parent folder, but does the trick for any local directory.
