Hi Snowytop,
I would initially suggest you to use the Printer troubleshooter and check if it lists any errors -
Open the Printer troubleshooter - You may use this link to troubleshoot the issues related to printer -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Printer-troubleshooter
If the issue persists I would suggest you to first delete all the temporary files using Disk cleanup then download and install the drivers
for the printer and also the required software for scan utility. You may refer to the below steps to update the drivers from the manufacturer website-
You may refer to the below link to delete files using Disk Cleanup -

Find and install printer drivers -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Find-and-install-printer-drivers
- Open Devices and Printers by clicking the
Start button, and then, on the Start menu, clicking
Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the printer you want to update, and then click
Printer properties.
- Click the
Advanced tab.
- Click
New Driver, and then follow the instructions in the Add Printer Driver wizard.
You may refer to the below link to get the latest drivers and utilities for the printer -

Also if you are unable to install the drivers for Windows 7 properly you may install the drivers in compatibility mode for Windows XP or Vista in Windows 7 and then check if the issue persists -If a program written for an earlier version of
Windows doesn't run correctly; you may use the Program Compatibility Wizard to change
the compatibility settings for the program. To change settings for a program manually, use the individual program's Compatibility tab.
You may refer to the below mentioned link for assistance on compatibility mode-

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.
Thanks,
