Cursor jumps around while typing

In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

    Thanks.  I solved the problem by turning off the mouse pad I don't like to use anyway, and the mouse connected with a USB works perfectly now.  May one day try a cordless mouse, though, but I keep this laptop pretty much in one spot on a laptop table, and take the iPad with a keyboard case when I go out and about.  But thanks for getting back to me, Carol!

    Your problem has me stumped, Janet.  Never tried a wireless mouse.  Kind of don't trust it.  WiFi is a bit bothersome too.  I hate wires, but cable connections usually seem more reliable.  But what do I know? I came here with questions more so than answers!  :-)

    Thanks!  At least with all these replies I don't feel quite as stupid as I first did.  The store (to remain nameless until I can say without a doubt that I have a defective machine) where I purchased this product, looked at me like a deer in the headlights when I asked them if they were aware of the problem and/or a "fix" ...
