To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem. I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it. They put in a fix that worked. Microsoft. It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.
Cursor jumps around while typing
In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

2011-08-01T16:39:46+00:00 The problem is far too global a problem for any of this to solve (it simply does not solve it). IMHO It has to do with those not-so-smart things you folks do with text input. You know, gleaning everything anyone types for your search engine gatherer so you can make more money selling user habits and interests data. If you fix the problem your data gathering will take a big hit so you keep pretending that it must be the hardware... yeah, right. We are not a Microsoft resource!

2011-10-05T22:45:34+00:00 I’VE FOUND A SOLUTION, though NOT a "FIX"! After you place the cursor where you want to type, move it down to the bottom of the screen, without clicking. This takes an extra second or two but is worth it.
I figured out that the typing cursor jumped to the place where the touchpad cursor was, and figured maybe if the touchpad cursor was below the entire typing window, the typing cursor might just stay where it belongs, just ahead of the typing.
Makes keyboard shortcut even more valuable, as you’ll want to leave that darn cursor at the bottom of the screen. Until you need it.
LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU. BEST THING I'VE FOUND SO FAR. No downloads, no reboots. Just an annoying second to “park” the cursor below all the typing.
AND BY THE WAY, THE CURSOR JUMPED EVEN IF I TYPED WITH ONE FINGER AND WITH WRISTS HELD HIGH ABOVE THE KEYBOARD. SO NO, *NO* ABSOLUTELY NO IT IS NOT THAT WE ARE ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE TOUCHPAD. WAY TO BLAME THE VICTIM, Microsoft...! It’s definitely a software problem. It didn’t happen on my old laptop, which also had a touchpad.

Still using a freeware program (touchfreeze) that cures the problem that Gates programers haven't bothered to address. I've been a happy camper for a half year now.

2011-11-19T03:54:30+00:00 I agree, Aug 2011 I updated Windows and the problem solved by itself, but again appeared in Nov 2011. now one portion of text is automatically selected and when next char is pressed all the text is deleted.
some tracking software must be doing this,
I have noticed if any IE toolbar is installed and removed this problem starts.
