Cursor jumps around while typing

In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

    I appreciate the reply.

    My problems disappeared when I disabled the touchscreen functionality.  

    I still use my touch pad and mouse.

    The touch screen begins failing in older laptops as I read.  My laptop is 4 years old.

    Thanks.  What worked for me was disabling the touch screen.  

    My touch pad and mouse work fine.
