In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

    I agree completely with the 4 observations above, and I can add that the problem exists in my old HP laptop with Windows 7, and continues to exist on my new Sony laptop with Windows 8.

    If it is a virus-caused problem, would the anti-virus software developers please stand up?

    I hope it is not virus but the problem  should be researched also from the security angle. I forgot to mention in my first comment that the problem is especially annoying when typing the passwords. Because the characters are hidden, you cannot repair it. This amounts to repeated logins, especially to the most important accounts where passphrases or very long passwords are used. The obvious solution to shorten the password introdues security risks.

    The program Touchfreeze solved this problem immediately. Please consider donating to the developer. It is worth every penny.

    Hi Kmc1

     Try this;

    Go to Start > control panel > select 'Mouse' > Mouse options > and uncheck box

     'pointer when typing'.
