In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem. I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it. They put in a fix that worked. Microsoft. It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.
If you have a laptop/notebook/netbook computer, disable the mousepad at the bottom of the keyboard and see if that resolves your issue.

If it is a Laptop you can try decreasing the sensitivity of the touch pad, for a desktop with an optical mouse try keeping it on a rough surface or try reducing the sensitivity of the mouse.
You may try updating the drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if the problem still persists. For that you will have to visit the manufacturer’s website and check for the latest updates available.

Also try and reduce the speed and other options available for the mouse pointer or the touchpad.

Method 2:
You can also try reducing the hardware acceleration and check it might help. To reduce hardware acceleration follow the below given steps:
a) Click Start in the lower left corner of Windows Vista.
b) Click Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, click
c) Display Settings, and then click Advanced Settings.
d) Click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings.
Note: Change Settings will be disabled if the graphics card drivers do not support disabling hardware acceleration.

If you have Yahoo toolbar installed, uninstall it. This worked for me twice.

I have been having this problem for about a month. Unchecking pointer precision didn't help, A download called touchfreeze has worked so far. It turns off the touch pad when I start typing. I hope windows comes up with an update to fix the update.
