When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.
I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.
How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:
>Go to Control Panel
> Select Printers
> Right-click on Add Printer
> Select Run as Administrator
Now try to add your network printer.

We tried Comodo and had a few problems after we had installed it. GET RID OF COMODO!! Use something else because we found that it caused a few errors on our system which were only sorted after we took it off. Since dowloading Mc Fee we have had no problem with ADDS. I hope this helps.

I have not use Microsoft Security but I would check and see if it is blocking the com ports on the computer. You would have to look in the settings and see if you can find something that might say protect com ports or interfaces. If it is turn that part off. You might also google Microsoft Security blocking com ports and see what you find. That was what comodo was blocking on mine. Good luck with that, I hope that helps a little. I know this can be a frustrating problem.
I had the same problem with getting an error message after trying to click on "Add Printer" in Office 2010. I had intstalled the device drivers using the program of the printer manufacturer, but realized that I had not installed the printer from the control pannel through the operating system (Windows 7 64 bit user). I intstalled the printer through the port of my choosing through the control panel and all of a sudden the printer appears in Office 2010 and I'm ready to go!
P.S. If your printer does not show up in the initial list, then click the button that asks th.e computer to update the list of printers from Windows Update.
This worked for me. I was using Windows 7 and Comodo. Disabling the Defense+ worked. I re-enabled it and it allowed me to continue printing afterwards.
By switching Comodo's Defense+ service to off and restarting Word, the printer automagically appeared. There was no mode in which Defense+ allowed me to print using Word 2010 ONLY. I could print in any other application. This is strange, but then again why Word needs access to virtual drives like Q: is strange. Sorry Comodo, but problem solved for me.
