When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.

How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:

>Go to Control Panel

> Select Printers

Now try to add your network printer.

Please let me know if this helps J

This works.  if the service is still running, just restart the service.  it will fix the issue.

    p.s. i am running windows 10.

Hi, hi, hi, I FINALLY figured this out!!

Okay I read through everything and couldn't find anything that help but I kept trying and trying AND tyring and have just now gotten my printer to work again, i'm so happy it wasn't working for almost a year now!

Okay so here what I did...

To add a printer in Advanced printer setup

    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.) (or just search in control panel depending on what computer you have).
    2. Enter Advanced printer setup in the search box, and click Advanced printer setup.
    3. Do one of the following:
      • Choose a printer in the list.
      • Click The printer that I want isn’t listed, and either enter the printer name or choose one of the other options.
    4. Click Next, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

..I did this and it suddenly worked perfectly again, make sure your printer is on and ready to go :)

Really hope this helps, I know how annoying it's been for me not having the printer so let me know if this works for you guys!! :)
