When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.
I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.
How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:
>Go to Control Panel
> Select Printers
> Right-click on Add Printer
> Select Run as Administrator
Now try to add your network printer.

My problem was Comodo antivirus that was blocking the printer setup. I disabled Comodo and it worked fine after that. I was able to turn off the defense+ and the printer showed up. I then found out that if you go into the Comodo interface and click on "Defense+" tab at the top, then click Defense+ settings at bottom right, click on the tab "Monitoring Settings" when that window pops up, and click off Protected COM interfaces. and OK. This will allow you to keep running the Defense+ but the printer should still work. It just doesn't monitor any of the COM interfaces.
So what is the solution to the problem? I can't even use my pdf converter. I keep getting that error message.
I'm getting to the bottom of this, as I can reproduce the error on both XP and Windows7 machines. It's not really to do with SQL as I suspected, but to do with Office Professional Plus (2010) running in an environment where Active Directory Domain Services have not been deployed. I'm guessing this is a tough-luck situation - all the benefits of Office Pro but in a home environment.
It would be nice, however, if Microsoft were to amend Office Pro to work in home environments, or to make installing ADDS a bit easier for home users than in

That works fine - I can add printers from the Control Panel.
What does not work is trying to add a printer from withing any Office 2010 product From (eg) Project -> File -> Print -> Printer pull-down -> Add printer... consistently gets an unpopulated "Find printers" window followed quickly by "Find in the directory
I'm on XP fully up to date, but wondering if the SQL server left behind from Office 2003 is incompatible with Office 2010? If so, how far back do I have to manually remove programs before reinstalling Office 2010?
Of course, this is just a niggle as I can indeed use the control panel outside the Office product to add printers (which then do work inside Office!).
