clicking Find Printer shows error "The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable" i am on a home network

When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.

How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:

>Go to Control Panel

> Select Printers

> Right-click on Add Printer

> Select Run as Administrator

Now try to add your network printer.

    Nothing happened when I right clicked on "Add a printer"

    Criminey, this is a 2010 post. 

    In Windows 7....

    (a) In Control Panel, there IS NO "Printers" to select. Just Devices and Printers.

    (b) There's no "Add printer" that can be right-clicked. Just click it and NOT run as administrator.

    I don't know how this "modified" approach will work. But the one that helped nearly 1000 people 9 years ago isn't even close.
