How many passes before defrag finishes?

I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

I'm on pass 17 and wondering when it will end. Defrag. has been running for over 12 hrs. with no other applications running.

Not a good idea. Defragging a hard drive helps programs respond much fadter ny putting peices of foles back together so they are accessed faster.

It took me half an hour and 41 (yes, forty-one) passes on a one week old laptop with a Core i5 5200U and 500gb HDD.

I'm on pass 22, but it's definitely faster now than it was in the beginning.
