I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

    I have a 250gig hard drive and 74gigs used, my system is set up to do a defrag once a week on Wednesday but I got suspicious because I've never noticed my alienware laptop defragging itself, so I decided to do a defrag and now I am stuck on pass 6 with 0% consolidated. if this thing is defragging every week it shouldn't take that long to defrag, but I imagine for some reason my computer isn't doing the defrag even though it says that it has. there is no way I have used up 74gigs I only have 2 games installed and haven't downloaded any video. apparently my windows folder is 32gigs swollen and that has me very suspicious because there is no reason it should be that big.
