I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

    Mine's been running and it's doing it's 8th pass in 14 hours with no sign of stopping. Obviously, a larger hard drive causes it to take longer.

    windows 8?  not enough time to fragment a drive so recent... you have to understand that sorting algorithms aren't that smart, and defrag is a process with diminishing returns, you can choose to sort everything until its perfect, taking 10 times as long to gain 000.1% more in performance, the truth is you let it finish if you want or have time, else it really doesn't matter.

    Hey guys, I'm defragging my windows 8 laptop, I'm on my 9th defrag, an answer said that they saw up to 7 only, is something wrong with my laptop? is it bad to have more defrag passes?
