I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

    I always have 20 when I run it on cmd and I waited 6 hours

    I'm gonna cry... People says 41 passes... I'm on my 12th !!!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH !

    But I'm gonna try the software page 1 to defrag my PC...

    By the way, I've got a stupid question ^^

    Is it necessary to defrag my computer if I did the manual thing "cmd" on windows searching bar and "dir/s" ??

    There is no good reason to defrag a drive that's only 6% fragmented.  You have to get well above that before fragmentation will affect performance.

    mine is Pass 5-15% Consolidated took me more an hour, have a 1TB HDD,,, had 6% fragmented...never took this long untill today...the Pass 5 is so bloody slow, took like 20min for 1%

    Edit Update 1: more than 2 hrs Still Pass 5: 80%

    2min Later - Update 2: Pass 6-38% Moving Fast

    30 sec later - Update 3: Pass 7-9% Moving Fast Nice

    1 Min Later - Update 4: Pass 8-14% Moving Fast Again Yeaaaaa

    1 Min Later - Update 5: Pass 9-12% Fast Again Feelng Good

    1 Min Later - Update 6: Pass 10-3% Fast Again

    1 Min Later - Update 7:  Its Over Last  Was 10 Yesssss 10, almost 2-3 hrs

    But My Pc Run Pretty Quick Now things Open Very Fast
