Cannot change desktop background in Windows 7 Home Premium

I finall got my background slide show to work.  In windows explorer>  OS(C:)>Users>  right clicked on name of company user folder.  Unchecked hidden which had a check (both Hidden and read only are unchecked now) 

Then clicked Apply > to all folders and files.  It took a few minutes to apply to all files.  Now I can change the theme.  Or at least is it changing now.

The other plus is I can now use Auto Correct in Word 2010 which wouldn't let me use.

Much easier than changing settings.  Might be a fix for other out there.

I am having a terrible time with my desktop background suddenly. I have had my Vaio for a year and I've never had a problem with desktop themes or anything. I ran an update on 6/21/11 and suddenly my wallpaper will not change (well it was frozen on one wallpaper, in my desperation to change it I changed to a high contrast theme which turned the background black, now it is stuck on black). I downloaded that Windows Blinds program but I didn't like it and I just really want my slide show back. It looks like other people have had this problem and there's no real solution. I already ran a system restore and it did not fix the problem. I tried to go into the slideshow.ini file to clear it out and it told me access denied even though I am the administrator and only user on the computer. I am extremely frustrated and I'm really hoping that I won't have to wipe the entire computer just to get my wallpaper slideshow back.
