Cannot change desktop background in Windows 7 Home Premium

I noticed that someone else had this problem.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

I drove my self crazy trying to remedy this dilema for two days. I finally downloaded a program from Stardock called Windows Blinds. That solved my problem.

    I put the following in the run command:

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

    then deleted the bad picture, then everything worked fine after that.  It was a corrupted picture.

    really it was very helpfull

    hehe thx, works for me. Slideshow and background didn't working because of corrupt file indeed.

    Thought it was ok, but it wasn't ;)

    I just got a new Dell Laptop and I was going nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't change my background. I followed your instructions and a blue picture came up, I deleted it then I was able to change it all. Thanks a lot man
